Adolfo is my slave name….. ;)

Ok, el comment anterior fue chiste, pero me recordó una supuesta anécdota que corre en la familia de mi mamá. Resulta que hace muchos años la gente con apellido indígena fue obligada a cambiárselo por uno español.Segun ésto había que comprar el nuevo apellido y el costo de cada uno se determinaba por la cantidad de letras que contenía, por lo que un apellido más largo significaba que la familia tenía más dinero. Y fue por eso que la familia escogió el de Rodríguez (aunque mi Rodríguez es de mi papá no de mi mamá)......

Además eso de no identificarse con España es común en muchas ex-colonias. Los gringos no se ven como Ingleses, los brasileños no se ven como portugueses, y los quebecois no se ven como franceses. Mas aun, si acaso alguien aun le da por insultar a España lo haría con un “chinga tu madre” y no con un…bueno….cualquiera que sea el insulto comun por alla.

Lo anterior me lleva a dudar de la credibilidad del autor, además que el tema que trata es más trillado que el de por que los Simpsons se han vuelto tan malos. Octavio Paz y otros más reconocidos tienen ensayos sobre el tema, pero me parece que nadie ha podido sacar algo concluyente al respecto, o bueno, al menos algo que a mi me satisfaga.

El caso no es verse como Españoles, el caso es bajarle al victimismo y reinventarnos. Eso es precisamente lo que ha buscado Richard Rodriguez^ELZR (otro Rodriguez!) con sus ensayos, con sus reescrituras:

y presiento que es es lo que busca Luis de Alba tambien. Creo que nuestro indigenismo es un tema de mas trillado (sobretodo, claro, por la “izquierda”—madre de todos los victimismos), pero lo triste es que ha sido infantilmente trillado.

Que buena la anecdota que cuentas, jamas la habia oido—pero que mal que admitiste como chiste el primer comentario, yo ya tenia casi escrita la respuesta:
