12/60 Clock

I just finished re-installing Google Desktop for the fifth time (I always find it annoying after a while) and was surprised with this new gadgets thing. It may not be terribly useful, granted, but cool it is (specially with the Shift hotkey). Right now I have a virtual flower, a calculator, and a clock, 12/60, that just might be the coolest time interface ever. It needs no explanation, just install it and stare at it — the epiphany will hit you in bare seconds.

Oh, this is in fact so pretty that it has got me excited once more with my color clock of yore. Maybe I’ll port it to Javascript this week, you know, just as some Javascript back-to-shape calisthenics.

Hey Eliazar,

I presented a similar idea to my faculty at school, except that my device was a physical object that used color changing Leds to create a time telling device.

I’m not sure what it should be called as its accuracy is of course different from something with a minute/second hand.

Some of my inspiration came from these guys. http://www.ambientdevices.com/cat/index.html

Oh and I was told to make something else, i ended up making a really nice looking tea light holder.

I think the clock was too high concept for them.

heh :) At first I wanted to build a physical object too but I’m the biggest kludge ever. When it occurred to me that I could code it up I was thrilled. How would yours have worked? Any pictures or drawings? You had to rely on context a lot, right? (Representing 24 discrete states with color is hard!) Was it dead simple or intricate ?

(PS: Yup, those ambient guys are awesome.)

and have you seen this new, weird wifi bunny ?
